12 Weeks Pregnant – What to Expect

 What’s Happening in Your Body

  • Many moms feel a bit of relief as morning sickness starts to ease for some.
  • Energy levels may slowly start to come back.
  • Your uterus is expanding and may start to rise above your pubic bone.
  • You might notice a small bump starting to show.
  • Hormone shifts continue, which can still cause bloating, emotional ups and downs, or breast tenderness.

What’s Happening with Baby

  • Your baby is about the size of a plum (about 5–6 cm long, weighing around 14 grams).
  • Reflexes are developing—baby may start to move if poked, though you won’t feel it yet.
  • The fingers and toes are separated, and nails are forming.
  • Facial features like the nose and chin are more defined.
  • The baby’s intestines are moving into the abdomen, and the kidneys start producing urine.

 What You Can Do Now

  • Schedule or attend your first trimester scan (if not done yet).
  • Keep taking prenatal vitamins, especially iron and folic acid.
  • Start thinking about screening tests like NT scan or blood tests (if recommended).
  • Maintain healthy eating habits and stay hydrated.
  • Begin documenting your pregnancy if you want a keepsake or memory book.
